LOFT CONVERSION, KOHLMARKT 1

For the Kohlmarkt 1 construction project the third floor was remodelled and the loft space was converted into the so-called "Loft lite variant" ("DG-Leicht Variante"). The load was distributed evenly across the lower floors in such a way as to avoid the need for masonry reinforcement. The ceilings of the third floor and first loft were designed as light wood beam ceilings. Many construction optimisation techniques were employed in this area in order to minimise outdoor work, such as hoisting into place prefabricated roof sections which were concreted on site.
